The textile sector reflects the most important global sustainability challenges. Global partnerships, which support each other with the aim of shaping a sustainable future and take responsibility in their supply chains, make an important contribution to the implementation of the Agenda 2030.
Companies from the textile industry that successfully engage in partnerships to implement the Agenda 2030 and take responsibility in their supply chains could apply for the German Sustainability Award Global Corporate Partnerships 2022.
Together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), exemplary partnerships between textile companies based in Germany and in the Global South are awarded.
Based on a questionnaire, companies in the textile sector based in Germany that are committed to the implementation of the Agenda 2030 within the framework of partnerships with companies in the Global South and that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and the Agenda 2030 within their supply chain by proactively fulfilling their corporate due diligence obligations and raising awareness among consumers or business partners, could apply in autumn 2021.
The prerequisite for participation is that the partnership is currently ongoing or has not been completed for longer than 12 months. The applications will be evaluated by experts from the German Development Institute (DIE) and the international consultancy Kearney. The jury determined the winners, who where announced at the German Sustainability Award ceremony in Düsseldorf on December 3, 2021.
Three German companies from the textile industry with their partner companies in the Global South made it to the finalists. One partnership prevailed and was awarded as winner.

Applied directly to the product, it is easy to find when shopping and is reliable and consumer-friendly. A seal like the Green Button is a worldwide first: The Green Button sets binding requirements to protect both people and the environment. A total of 46 demanding social and environmental standards must be met, such as waste water limits or the prohibition of forced labor.
Successful transformation concepts deserve attention right now, and the finalists deserve appreciation. The winners will receive their awards in front of guests from the business community, local governments, politics, research and civil society. It is their evening in the spirit of respect for the different paths to the same great goal.
