The GSA seal signals sustainability – to customers, competitors, business partners, the media and the financial world. It ensures a competitive edge in the market and points consumers in the direction of sustainable alternatives.

Making sustainable design recognizable.

The nominees, finalists and winners represent pioneering achievements and can thus distinguish themselves in the competition.

The GSA seal is Germany's most prestigious recognition for exemplary ecological and social performance. And it counts abroad: "Made in Germany" also stands for sustainability and "Green Economy". That's why the seal is available in all languages for international communication, foreign branches and worldwide trade fair appearances.

With the GSA Design seal, the best participants of the competition document the sustainability of their products and services - towards all stakeholders. The external recognition shows sustainable alternatives and secures competitive advantages. The GSA seal enables consumers to choose products with which they themselves contribute to the sustainability of the environment.

Nominees.

The nomination confirms the exceptional design quality and the sustainable impact of the solution. The "Nominee" seal with the year reference of the participation can be used for an unlimited period of time, independent of the further course of the competition.

The license and processing fees are

  • for startups (not older than 5 years) € 500,-
  • Designers, small and medium companies (up to 50 employees) € 1.000,-,
  • midsize companies (up to 300 employees) € 2.000,-
  • large companies (more than 300 employees, plus VAT in each case) € 3.000,-

Students receive the seal free of charge.

Finalists/Winners.

They are the top field of the competition, qualified by outstanding design and exemplary contributions to transformation. The seal with the year reference can be held for an unlimited period of time. It is replaced by the "Winner" seal in the event of success.

The license and processing fees, in addition to the nominee seal, are

  • for startups (not older than 5 years) € 500,-

Icons.

"Icons" are groundbreaking symbols in the design world. They embody values such as longevity, timelessness, innovation, design quality and responsibility. Design icons often fascinate for decades and inspire entire industries. The seal can be used indefinitely in the context of receiving an award as an Icon. 

The additional costs correspond to those of the "Finalist/Winner" seals.

Visions.

"Visions" are the best and most promising ideas for transformative paths to a more sustainable future. The seal with year reference can be used indefinitely in the context of the concept. In this competition segment, winners can choose between the designation "Winner" and "Vision".

Most coveted award of its kind.

According to a recent study by the University of Hohenheim on the importance of sustainability and environmental competitions in Germany, the GSA is both the best-known and most coveted award in this field (ranking first in each case). There are currently around 200 competitions with a focus on sustainability.

Use of license and processing fees.

The license and processing fees are used to enable a qualified assessment, jury work at the highest professional level, the organization of an appealing award ceremony and free participation in the competition by young designers, micro-enterprises and students. They are based on the possibilities of the participants.

Almost one billion media contacts.

A project is only as strong as the attention it receives. With over 5,000 reports, the DNP achieved a gross reach of 935,921,083 media contacts in Germany in 2019. Alongside intensive press work stand the cooperations with WELT, 3Sat/ZDF and other media partners from daily and trade press as well as online media. Special supplements and advertisements present the players around the GSA, create reach and help to further increase the impact of the award.
