The City of Gudensberg with the City of Shchyrets (Ukraine)

The relatively new partnership between the two small towns of Gudensberg and Shchyrets in Ukraine has been in place since 2013 and was formalized in a partnership agreement in 2016. The measures shaped by Agenda 2030 are focused on setting up a voluntary fire brigade and developing a concept for centralizing the supply of drinking water as well as wastewater disposal in Shchyrets. The innovative process of sewage

sludge humification, which has not yet been implemented in Ukraine and is therefore a pilot project, is planned within the scope of this project. In terms of development policy, the joint activities are aimed at establishing and improving local services of general interest in Shchyrets as well as promoting European integration. The partnership is characterized by a broad multi-actor approach and a large number of civil sports and cultural projects.

On 14 November 2018, the jury of the German Sustainability Award will select the top 3 entries and the winner.
