Nine projects have been nominated for this year's DNP Architecture. The focus is on the resource-conserving preservation of existing buildings. In 2023, the renowned award will be presented for the eleventh time jointly by the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen - DGNB e.V. (German Sustainable Building Council). The winner will be announced and awarded at the 16th DNT on 24 November 2023 in Düsseldorf.
This year, for the first time, the German Sustainability Award, in cooperation with the DIHK, the Federal Ministry for the Environment and other partners, awards the pioneers of sustainability in 100 industries. Now the expert juries will decide on the finalists.. On 23 November 2023, the GSA will draw the "big picture" of the transformation of the German economy with the 100 winners.

Who are the pioneers of transformation, what are the best concepts for urgent sustainable change? For the 15th time, the best were honoured in modernly designed award ceremonies on 1 and 2 December 2022 in Düsseldorf. In addition to the winners of the competitions, honorary awards were also presented to well-known personalities who bring the topic closer to society through their charisma.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz opened the anniversary celebrations on 2 December 2022. Among those present at the award ceremony for last year's competition winners were President of the German Bundestag Bärbel Bas, President of the German Bundesrat Dr. Peter Tschentscher and H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. On 1 December 2022, the GSA Design was awarded to Germany's leading designers in a similar setting.
On 1 and 2 December 2022, around 130 speakers discussed the latest sustainability topics such as energy security, climate protection, circular economy and sustainable building with the congress participants. Contributions came from Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner, Minister of State Sarah Ryglewski and Klaus Müller, President of the Federal Network Agency, among others. The winners of the GSA Architecture and Next Economy Award (NEA) were presented with their awards during the 2nd day of the congress.
The competitions for the 15th German Sustainability Award were carried out in a difficult economic situation. Numerous companies, start-ups, agencies, designers and architects submitted their unique and innovative contributions to sustainable change. An award is only as strong as the attention it receives. With around 6,000 reports and in cooperation with over 50 media partners, the GSA 2021 achieved a gross media reach of 1.5 billion in Germany. Alongside intensive press work is cooperation with 3Sat/ZDF and other media partners from the daily and trade press as well as online media. Special supplements and advertisements present the players around the DNP, generate reach and help to further increase the impact of the award.
